After discovering Ravello, Albert Fouquet returned to the Amalfi Coast whenever he needed a few days of true relaxation and creative inspiration. He stayed at the Hotel Villa Cimbrone, dramatically positioned above the cliffs with breathtaking views over the Mediterranean Sea.

Ravello offered everything that fascinated Fouquet: music, art, history, and extraordinary botanical beauty.

In the gardens of the historic Villa Rufolo, Fouquet spent hours admiring the flowers cultivated by Lord Francis Neville, an old friend of his father, together with his trusted gardener Luigi Cicalese. These gardens had inspired countless artists, including Richard Wagner, who found inspiration for his opera Parsifal while surrounded by their beauty.

Years later, Fouquet experienced the gardens in an entirely new way.

He was invited to an open-air concert by Maestro Guido Rossi, a passionate supporter of the arts who shared his enthusiasm for Wagner's music. As the melodies filled the evening air and the fragrance of the surrounding flowers drifted through the gardens, Fouquet experienced a profound moment of inspiration.

He returned to Villa Cimbrone that night with the atmosphere still vivid in his mind.

Inspired by the flowers, the Mediterranean breeze, the music, and the magic of an Italian summer night, Fouquet began experimenting with fragrances and essences.

Throughout the rest of his stay in Ravello, he refined his creation until it captured the feeling he had experienced that evening.

He named it Il Giardino dell’Anima, meaning "The Garden of the Soul," as a tribute to the extraordinary place that had inspired it.
