House of Iyrah at Perfumology: Celebrating 823

House of Iyrah at Perfumology: Celebrating 823

When Samira Mbang from House of Iyrah joined us to launch 823, she wanted the event to feel intentional from the start. An all-white party felt like the right way to mark the moment, giving the shop a clean, luminous atmosphere for a fragrance that is fruity, floral, creamy, and full of personality.

823 is a fruity floral that immediately makes sense on skin. It opens with this sweet, creamy raspberry feeling, softened by bouvardia and mandarine. Then the floral heart comes forward with jasmine sambac, tuberose, and Karo Karounde before settling into damson plum, mahogany wood, and ambroxan. It’s pretty, but not simple. It has lift, creaminess, wood, and depth. The result feels joyful and celebratory, with immediate appeal but enough shape and story to make it feel personal.

One of the things we love is being among the first to support people who are taking real creative risks. Samira is doing what we’re always looking for: making perfumes with soul, purpose, story, and accessibility to the nose. I love challenging perfumes, but when I’m looking for a quality perfume, I don’t need it to fit neatly into a category. I need it to be good.

You can feel that approach across the House of Iyrah collection. The fragrances are personal without becoming difficult to understand. They have stories, but the stories don’t get in the way of the perfume. They’re polished, wearable, and emotional, with enough intention to make them feel considered from top to base. That’s why we’re proud to bring the house into the shop early and introduce it to our community in person.

Events like this make that connection stronger. It’s one thing to read about a fragrance online, and it’s a completely different experience to smell it in the room with the founder and hear personally where it came from. That’s when the perfume transforms from a bottle on a shelf to part of a shared experience.

823 was the reason for the party, but it also opened the door to the rest of House of Iyrah.

If you want something bright, warm, and indulgent, Symphony blends sweet fruits, soft florals, jasmine, saffron, sandalwood, vanilla, patchouli, and white musk into something smooth and enveloping.

Nocturne moves darker, with davana, pink pepper, Sicilian bergamot, oud, white amber, vetiver, and musk creating a sensual fragrance inspired by nightfall.

Opera brings drama through black currant, peach, iris, Turkish rose, Bulgarian rose, cedar, pepper, violet leaf, and white musk. It’s lush, floral, and grounded with quiet strength.

Act I is the more effortless side of the house, opening with bergamot, thyme, and lemon before moving into neroli, lily of the valley, musk, and sandalwood. It feels fresh, clean, and easy to wear without disappearing.

L’Artisan is more textured and intimate, built around fresh spice, conifer, amber, woods, aromatics, leather, and animalic depth. It has that raw, crafted feeling that makes a fragrance feel lived in.

You can also explore the Overture Discovery Set if you want to experience the house more fully before choosing a favorite.

We’re grateful to Samira for bringing House of Iyrah to Perfumology and letting us celebrate 823 with our community. If you missed the all-white party, you can still discover 823 and the full House of Iyrah collection online, or visit us in Old City Philadelphia to experience them in person!
